Law Minister: Rapid issuance of IP certificates result of digital transformation

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Minister of Law Supratman Andi Agtas said the success in issuing intellectual property (IP) registration certificates in a short time is the result of the digital transformation that the Ministry of Law continues to develop, particularly in intellectual property services.
“That is the digital transformation we are developing. For the registration of copyrights and Communal Intellectual Property (KIK), there is actually no need to go to the trouble of coming here because everything can be done from the regions and can be done online,” said Supratman at the Pasti Ada Solusi event in Jakarta on Friday.
Through increasingly accessible digital services, he hopes that more regions will utilise the communal intellectual property registration system to protect Indonesia’s cultural heritage and communal wealth so that it can be passed on to future generations while also providing economic benefits to the community.
The appreciation was conveyed after he successfully obtained a KIK Registration Certificate for the Traditional Cultural Expression Gambus Lae Sukhaya.
Rasyid revealed that the KIK registration process he submitted was completed quickly. According to him, this is clear evidence of the Ministry of Law’s commitment to providing public services that are easy, fast, and transparent.
“I am here to express my extraordinary appreciation for the activities of the Minister of Law. I extend my appreciation and thanks to the Minister,” said Rasyid.
The KIK Registration Certificate received records Gambus Lae Sukhaya as a Traditional Cultural Expression originating from Subulussalam City, Aceh.
Director of Copyright and Industrial Design Agung Damarsasongko emphasised that communal intellectual property is a national asset that must be safeguarded together.
Therefore, regional governments are encouraged to continue inventorying and registering various traditional cultural expressions, traditional knowledge, and other KIK potential in order to obtain adequate legal protection.
The Directorate General of Intellectual Property at the Ministry of Law continues to strive to provide services that are fast, easy, and accessible from all regions in Indonesia.
“The hope is that more regional governments will be encouraged to register their Communal Intellectual Property so that the cultural heritage they possess obtains strong legal protection and is well documented,” said Agung.
