Law enforcers must fight violence
Law enforcers must fight violence
From Bisnis Indonesia
There have been more bombings in the country, killing and
injuring innocent people. The most agonizing example was the
recent explosion in Palu, which killed a minister while he was
worshiping with his congregation.
It is not clear whether these violent acts are criminal or
have been prompted by different motives, as reported in the
media, though the government has strived to restore peace and
prevent any provocation.
The perpetrators of the bombings have tried to create conflict
among religious followers. Because of this, any act of
retaliation should be avoided to prevent further chaos.
On the other hand, the security authorities must thoroughly
investigate these attacks and use the intelligence bodies to
uncover planned future attacks.
Law enforcers should spearhead the inquiry into all of the
bombings in various regions in the country. We have made it
through two stages of elections safely, so we must ensure the
next phase of the elections is not marred by any confusion.
