Law Enforcement Officials Urged Not to 'Deceive' President Prabowo

Nahdlatul Ulama figure HRM Khalilur R Abdullah Sahlawiy, known as Gus Lilur, has commented on the naming of former Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus) Febrie Adriansyah as a suspect in a case involving alleged corruption and money laundering (TPPU). Gus Lilur noted that Febrie is the executive chairman of the PKH Task Force, describing him as an aide to President Prabowo Subianto who was working to plug state revenue leakages. “Febrie is no ordinary figure in our anti-corruption architecture. He is the Executive Chairman of the PKH Task Force, the person on the front line of saving millions of hectares of state assets,” he said in a written statement on Monday, 13 July 2026. He expressed regret that Febrie has been implicated in corruption and money laundering, suggesting that Febrie did not commit the alleged crimes alone. “The person who should be helping the president the most to close state revenue leaks is now suspected of being part of the leak itself. If the law enforcer entrusted with the state’s safe is suspected of keeping his own personal safe at home and behind a café, then the question is no longer about just one person,” he said. Gus Lilur urged the Attorney General’s Office to resolve the case thoroughly and to disclose the process to the public if Febrie is proven guilty. “The Attorney General’s Office must process this case completely and openly, announce every stage to the public, put him in a suspect’s vest, handcuff him if the detention requirements are met, present him in an open trial, and let the law impose a commensurate sentence if he is found guilty,” he stated. He observed that President Prabowo Subianto has frequently faced sharp public criticism and expressed hope that the legal process against Febrie would be free from any charade. “The president must be protected from the people’s anger, because the people will surely be furious if a case this big evaporates without the fairest possible law enforcement,” he said. Gus Lilur also reflected on historical lessons, citing Nelson Mandela’s emergence from 27 years of imprisonment without vengeance. He stressed that inter-institutional cohesion must be instilled systemically, from the education of law enforcement personnel to the highest command rooms, so that they all work for the one republic, not for the glory of their respective corps, with information transparency as the sole binding agent.
