Law against urban air pollution
Law against urban air pollution
From Koran Tempo
Air pollution in Jakarta has gone beyond acceptable limits and unless promptly dealt with, it could get worse in the future.
The government does not seem to be concerned about the situation and apparently is content to let it deteriorate without any solution in sight. Some official comments have been made but no action has been taken.
What is now needed is legislation to safeguard the urban environment against pollution. Officials cannot be expected to work without strict rules being in place.
Other measures that could reduce air pollution include a major cut in the number of motor vehicles by any possible means and road widening in all congested parts of the capital.
