Lavrov: Russia Accepts US Proposal on Ukraine During Alaska Summit

Moscow (ANTARA) - Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump discussed Washington’s proposal regarding Ukraine during a summit in Alaska, and the proposal has been accepted by the Russian side, stated Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov on Friday.

On Thursday, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that there were only proposals, not agreements, regarding Ukraine during the US-Russia summit in Alaska.

“When my colleague, Marco Rubio, says that in Alaska there were only proposals, but no agreements, I question what is meant by an agreement. If one party, in this case the United as the United States, has submitted a proposal for a resolution on how to handle this crisis, and the other party expresses agreement with that proposal, then it feels inaccurate to say that there is no agreement,” Lavrov told reporters.

Lavrov added that, in fact, the proposal from the United States was discussed during the meeting in Alaska and has been accepted by the Russian side.

“Of course, we still need to clarify the entire situation,” Lavrov added.
