Laundry business revenue surges ahead of Eid, reaching Rp 3.5 million per day
Depok — In the lead-up to Eid al-Fitr, several laundry businesses are experiencing significantly increased demand for their services. The surge in customer requests has resulted in higher volumes of laundry intake, directly translating into increased daily revenue. This seasonal spike typically occurs around one to two weeks before Eid, when customers take advantage of laundry services to manage accumulated washing whilst preparing for the holiday festivities.
One laundry business operator reported that earnings during the Eid period are consistently between Rp 1.5 million and Rp 3.5 million daily, noting the income is quite substantial. Aufa, the operator of Klean Loka Laundry, observed that the surge in demand became visible approximately ten days before Eid. Despite the increased volume, the business has not yet raised prices, though Aufa indicated that modest price increases are anticipated in the weeks immediately preceding Eid, a practice also adopted by competing laundry businesses in the area.
Customer numbers typically escalate as the holiday approaches. According to Aufa, the increased demand naturally redirects customers to his establishment when competing laundries are unable to cope with demand or close their operations. This phenomenon was observed in the previous year, with customers automatically shifting to available providers.
The higher customer volume translates directly into increased laundry volumes. Under normal circumstances, Klean Loka Laundry processes approximately 100 kilograms of laundry daily. However, in the weeks preceding Eid, this volume can double. To manage the surge effectively, laundry operations are streamlined to ensure all orders are completed on schedule. The business maintains service availability during Eid itself, though with adjusted operating hours. Regular operating hours are 06.00 to 22.00, but on Eid day, the business will operate from 14.00 to 22.00. Aufa noted that the decision to remain open on Eid was agreed upon with staff at the start of the seasonal period.
