A laundry business on Jalan Sriwijaya Number 36, Banjar Malkangin, Dajan Peken Village, Tabanan District, was engulfed in flames on Wednesday (1/7/2026) at around 12.30 Wita. No casualties were reported in the incident, but material losses are estimated to have reached Rp 750 million.

Tabanan Police Public Relations Head, Iptu Ni Luh Putu Wiwik Endrayani, explained that the building which caught fire belonged to I Made Rusdiawan. The fire was first noticed by an employee, Ade Irmaliana, who was working inside the laundry at the time. Ade saw flames emerging from the regulator of a clothes drying machine. She attempted to extinguish the fire using a wet sponge, but the fire could not be put out and instead grew larger, spreading to piles of clothing inside the laundry.

‘The fire spread quickly because there were several LPG cylinders and flammable perfume liquids inside the building,’ Wiwik explained. Realising the situation was becoming increasingly dangerous, Ade immediately sought help from local residents, including the head of the Banjar Malkangin neighbourhood. The neighbourhood head then contacted the Tabanan Regency Fire Department, and at around 12.40 Wita, three fire engines arrived at the scene. ‘The fire was successfully extinguished after approximately 45 minutes,’ she stated.

A crime scene investigation revealed that the entire laundry building was gutted. A number of business assets were also destroyed, including four LG brand drying machines, four LG brand washing machines, one water heating boiler for steam irons, one refrigerator, and one LG brand air conditioner. Also destroyed were two Infinix tablets, one Samsung tablet, one Vivo mobile phone, and 15 LPG cylinders consisting of ten 3-kilogram cylinders and five 12-kilogram cylinders. ‘Based on the initial investigation, the fire is suspected to have been triggered by a gas leak in the iron pipe of the drying machine regulator,’ Wiwik explained. Police officers have processed the crime scene, examined witnesses, and gathered information to determine the exact cause of the fire. Although there were no fatalities, the incident caused the business owner an estimated material loss of around Rp 750 million.
