Launch of Jetour X50e Electric Car Still Postponed, Here's Why
BEIJING, KOMPAS.com – Plans to launch the Jetour X50e electric car in Indonesia appear unlikely to occur in the near future. Although it was once introduced to the public, Jetour has chosen not to rush bringing this battery electric vehicle (BEV) model to the domestic market. Director of Marketing at PT Jetour Sales Indonesia, Moch Ranggy Radiansyah, stated that the decision to introduce electric vehicles is not just about the speed of technology adoption but also considers various supporting factors. He added that Jetour wants to ensure every product launched is truly relevant to the needs of the Indonesian market, from features and production readiness to its supporting ecosystem. “We always say that when we launch our products, we are very selective to make sure the product is relevant in terms of features and so on,” said Ranggy. Currently, Jetour is still conducting studies on the BEV segment in Indonesia. However, in its global strategy, the Chinese manufacturer has a complete portfolio, ranging from conventional engines (ICE), plug-in hybrids (PHEV), to pure electric cars. For the Indonesian market itself, Jetour assesses that PHEV technology is still the most relevant option at present. However, at that time, the model was only shown without announcements of official specifications or prices. This step is part of market research to see consumer responses to Jetour’s electric vehicles. “Next, we conduct market research, see public enthusiasm, then product development and innovation,” said Ranggy. Referring to its twin model in China, the Kaiyi X3 Pro EV, the X50e is estimated to feature a lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery with a capacity of 53.6 kWh, offering a range of up to 401 km on a full charge. Its electric motor is said to produce around 164 hp and 280 Nm of torque. However, these specifications are still based on global references and could change when adapted to the needs of the Indonesian market.
