Launch of Indonesia Nazhir Academy, ANI Pushes for National Waqf Transformation
REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA – The Indonesian Nazhir Association (ANI) has officially launched the Indonesia Nazhir Academy (INA) as part of a series of events at Masjid Istiqlal, Jakarta, on Saturday (11/4/2026). This launch represents a strategic step to accelerate the transformation of national waqf management through strengthening the capacity of nazhir human resources.
INA is presented as a centre for learning and development designed systematically and sustainably. Its presence addresses the main challenges of waqf in Indonesia, namely the uneven quality of management and the many waqf assets that remain unproductive.
The Committee Chairman, Ahmad Faisal, emphasised that INA is not merely an ordinary training programme, but part of a larger agenda for waqf transformation.
“INA is not just a training programme, but part of strategic efforts to build a new foundation for waqf management. We want to ensure that Indonesian nazirs are not only trustworthy but also professional, adaptive, and capable of addressing contemporary challenges,” he said, quoted from a written statement on Monday (13/4/2026).
Through INA, ANI targets the emergence of a new generation of nazirs with managerial competencies, understanding of waqf fiqh, and the ability to develop assets productively. This initiative is expected to strengthen public trust while promoting waqf as a more impactful instrument for community economic development.
Beyond the INA launch, the event was also combined with a national nazhir silaturahim and a talk show on waqf amendments, featuring various stakeholders. The forum reinforces that strengthening Indonesian waqf requires synergy between improving human resource quality, regulatory renewal, and more professional institutional governance.
ANI President Imam Nur Azis stated that the future of waqf is determined by the quality of its management. He assessed that the presence of INA becomes an important foundation to propel Indonesian waqf to the next level, from mere potential to a real force in national development.
Previously, ANI conducted an audience with the Ministry of Religious Affairs (Kemenag) of the Republic of Indonesia. This meeting was for socialising the results of the ANI 2026 National Working Meeting (Rakernas).
