Latumeten Flyover Construction Targets 40% Reduction in Traffic Congestion

Jakarta Legislative Council (DPRD) member Hardiyanto Kenneth stated that the construction of the Latumeten Flyover in Grogol Petamburan, West Jakarta, is on track for completion by the end of 2026 and is targeted to reduce chronic traffic congestion in the area. “The infrastructure, which is expected to reduce congestion by up to 40 percent, is currently on track. Hopefully, it can be completed by December 2026,” Kenneth said in Jakarta on Friday. Kenneth explained that the flyover project originated from the concerns of residents living near the railway crossing. Residents had asked him to find a solution to ease the persistent traffic problems. During a working visit to the Latumeten area in 2024, residents requested the construction of a flyover to alleviate congestion caused by the busy railway crossing. At that time, the Jakarta Provincial Government did not have the budget to build the flyover, but Kenneth requested that a study be conducted first on the issue. After the study was completed, the Latumeten Flyover project entered the tender process and began construction at the end of 2025. “Now the results are starting to show. Hopefully, it can be completed on time, as the Governor expects,” Kenneth added. As an intermodal connector, a skywalk equipped with lifts, a disability-friendly pedestrian bridge, and a Transjakarta bus stop integrated with the surrounding area will also be built. Kenneth noted that the concept was designed to provide convenience for all road users, including persons with disabilities, the elderly, pregnant women, and people carrying goods or baby strollers. “The presence of a lift on the pedestrian bridge will facilitate access to the Transjakarta bus stop without having to use stairs,” Kenneth said. He added that the facility is expected not only to improve mobility for motorists but also to enhance the safety and comfort of pedestrians using public transport, becoming part of an intermodal integration system connecting the Latumeten Flyover area with Transjakarta, JakLingko, and Commuter Line services. Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung previously stated that the construction of the Latumeten Flyover cost IDR 259 billion. The project progress has reached 55.2 percent and is targeted for completion on 15 December 2026. Pramono revealed that the Latumeten Flyover is one of the most anticipated infrastructure projects because it is located in an area that has long been a traffic bottleneck. “This Latumeten Flyover is one of the most awaited flyovers in Jakarta. Why? Because here, whether in the morning, afternoon, or evening, the traffic congestion is very high,” Pramono said.
