The Governor of Jakarta, Pramono Anung, highlighted the severe traffic congestion occurring around the Latumenten flyover construction project in West Jakarta. He instructed the Public Works Department to immediately open up affected road access to prevent the congestion from worsening.

“Regarding the Latumenten flyover, we are aware that it is intended to reduce congestion in the area. I have now asked the Public Works Department to expand access so that the closed roads can be reopened,” said Pramono at the DKI Jakarta Education Department office, Thursday (26/2/2026).

Pramono hopes that this measure will alleviate the traffic congestion that has been complained about by the public. He emphasised that infrastructure development should not have a prolonged impact on traffic congestion.

“So, the main point is that hopefully, in the near future, the construction of this Latumenten project will not cause even more severe traffic congestion,” he said.

In addition to the congestion, the Latumenten flyover project has also come under scrutiny due to alleged illegal levies in the surrounding area. The DKI Provincial Government has ensured that it will follow up on the various issues that arise during the construction process.

As is known, two informal parking attendants were secured by a joint task force under the toll road around the Grogol Latumenten flyover construction project, precisely on Jalan Makaliwe Raya, West Jakarta. Both are suspected of carrying out illegal levies on motorists and often causing traffic congestion.

The enforcement was carried out after complaints from the public were submitted through DKI Jakarta DPRD member Hardiyanto Kenneth. In response to the report, the Grogol sub-district together with a number of agencies immediately carried out checks and enforcement at the location.

“This activity is a rapid response to reports from residents as well as a commitment to maintaining public order, environmental security, and the comfort of the community in public spaces,” wrote the official Instagram account of the Grogol sub-district @kel.grogol, Thursday (26/2).
