Latumenten Flyover Progress Reaches 55 Percent, Level Crossing to be Permanently Closed

The construction of the Latumenten Flyover in the Grogol area of West Jakarta has reached 55.2 percent completion, with the project on schedule to be finished by December 2026. The Rp259 billion project is projected to reduce traffic congestion in Grogol and its surrounding areas by up to 40 percent.

Member of the Jakarta Regional House of Representatives (DPRD) Commission C, Hardiyanto Kenneth, stated that the flyover’s construction originated from residents’ complaints about congestion caused by the busy railway level crossing in the Latumenten area. ‘The Latumenten Flyover progress is on track, and hopefully it can be completed by December 2026,’ Kenneth said on Thursday.

Kenneth explained that the proposal for the flyover emerged during his recess visit in 2024, when residents requested a solution to address years of traffic congestion. In addition to the flyover, the Jakarta Provincial Government is also building a pedestrian bridge (JPO) equipped with disability-friendly facilities. The JPO will connect to various public transport modes, including the KRL Commuter Line and Transjakarta, with lifts providing easy access to Transjakarta bus stops without the need to use stairs.

Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung confirmed that the Latumenten Flyover is one of the priority projects to alleviate congestion in the Grogol, Pluit, and Slipi areas. He added that once the flyover is operational, the at-grade railway crossing beneath it will be permanently closed to enhance railway travel safety and reduce the risk of accidents between trains and motor vehicles.
