Latest Update on the Construction Project of 100 Bulog Warehouses
The President Director of Perum Bulog, Ahmad Rizal Ramdhani, has revealed the latest developments regarding the construction project of 100 new warehouses, which is part of a strategic initiative to strengthen post-harvest infrastructure. He stated that while the project has not yet entered the construction phase, it is currently in the tendering process and is targeted for an imminent groundbreaking ceremony.
Rizal noted that the construction of these warehouses is a follow-up to directives from President Prabowo Subianto and the Minister of Agriculture, Amran Sulaiman. The new facilities are essential to anticipate the increase in national rice production.
“In accordance with the directives from President Prabowo Subintanto and Minister of Agriculture Amran Sulaiman, we are working to realise the construction of 100 post-harvest infrastructure units, specifically 100 warehouses with full facilities, supplemented by additional leased filial warehouses. We have already mapped this out because the Minister’s superior seed programme is extraordinary, with harvest estimates potentially exceeding 10 tonnes per hectare,” Rizal told reporters in Jakarta on Friday (31/07/2026).
“This will automatically impact the readiness of warehouses across the entire country,” he added.
When asked about the progress of the 100 warehouses, Rizal confirmed that the process has entered the tender stage. Following this, Bulog will commence construction with a groundbreaking ceremony. The project will span the entire nation, from Sabang to Merauke, with priority given to the 3T regions (frontier, outermost, and remote areas).
However, Rizal noted that the specific location for the first groundbreaking ceremony is still awaiting instructions from the government, namely from President Prabowo, Minister Amran, and the Coordinating Minister for Food Affairs, Zulkifli Hasan.
Rizal also explained that the acceleration of construction is being carried out in accordance with a Presidential Instruction (Inpres). Consequently, the work will be conducted through a limited tender involving State-Owned Construction Enterprises (BUMN Karya), with the target of having some warehouses completed by December this year.
“Following the Inpres, we are using the directive because acceleration is requested. The hope is that by December, some will be finished. We are using a limited tender for BUMN Karya, so the work will be handled by BUMN Karya,” he said.
He reaffirmed that by December 2026, the warehouse project and post-harvest infrastructure should be completed and ready for use.
“(So it is not starting construction in December?) By December, they must be finished. We must work quickly. Therefore, I ask for support from everyone,” he concluded.
