Latest Update on the 2026 MPR Four Pillars Quiz Competition Case in West Kalimantan: Ready to Use Independent Judges
The controversy over the final of the MPR RI Four Pillars Quiz Competition for high school level in West Kalimantan has finally reached a resolution. The MPR RI Chairman has decided that the final round of the competition will be held again, involving independent judges to maintain objectivity and avoid the controversies that were previously widely discussed by the public.
This decision was taken after protests from several parties regarding the final results of the competition, which were deemed to raise suspicions. Videos and discussions about the course of the competition went viral on social media, sparking widespread attention from the Indonesian public.
Final to Be Re-run with New Judging System
MPR RI Chairman Ahmad Muzani stated that the re-run competition will be held soon with changes to the judging panel. The judges for the re-run will be taken from independent circles, such as academics.
“The LCC at the West Kalimantan level whose final we will re-run … MPR leadership will directly supervise the competition from start to finish,” said Muzani, quoted by VIVA from Antara on Thursday, 14 May 2026.
This step is hoped to eliminate public doubts about the competition results and ensure that all participants receive equal opportunities.
In addition to the use of independent judges, the organising committee is said to evaluate the competition mechanism so that similar incidents do not recur in future events.
The Controversy Stemmed from Allegations of Unfair Judging
The controversy arose after several participants and school supporters questioned the final results of the competition. Some parties assessed that there were jury decisions considered inconsistent during the final round.
The debate escalated when recordings of the competition circulated on social media. Netizens widely highlighted the judging process and asked the organisers to provide open explanations.
The situation ultimately prompted the MPR RI to intervene directly to find the fairest solution for all parties.
Independent Judges Deemed Able to Maintain Neutrality
The use of independent judges is seen as an important step to maintain the competition’s neutrality. By involving external parties with no connections to participants or local organisers, the judging process is expected to be more transparent.
In addition, this decision has also received positive responses from several participants and the public who previously questioned the competition results.
