Latest Update on 7 INKA CLI-225 Commuter Trains Undergoing Maintenance
PT Industri Kereta Api (Persero), known as INKA, has revealed the latest progress regarding the general check-up of KRL iE305/CLI-225 trainsets. Currently, one trainset has entered the final stage of inspection and is targeted for completion within this week.
Meanwhile, the remaining six trainsets are still undergoing the overhaul process in Depok and Manggarai. The inspection of these units is expected to be completed gradually.
Nanang Agung Rohmandiyas, Senior Manager of Corporate Communications at PT INKA, stated that the inspections are being conducted to ensure safety and reliability aspects of the rolling stock before they return to passenger service.
“We apologise for the inconvenience caused by the general check-up, which has disrupted the mobility of KRL users. Currently, one trainset is in the final stage of inspection, while six trainsets are still undergoing checks and will be completed gradually. Our focus is to ensure that all aspects related to the safety and reliability of the rolling stock are in optimal condition,” Nanang said in a statement, quoted on Thursday (17/09/2026).
Once the entire inspection process is complete and the safety and reliability of the rolling stock are confirmed to be optimal, INKA will return the trainsets to KAI Commuter. The timing and operational patterns of the trainsets in passenger service remain under the authority of KAI Commuter as the operator.
INKA ensures that the general check-up process is carried out gradually, prioritising safety, reliability, and the readiness of the rolling stock before it is redeployed for service.
Regarding the delivery of Trainset 9, INKA is continuing the transport of Trainset 9 (TS 9) from Banyuwangi to Madiun. On Wednesday (16/09/2026), the final four carriages of the total 12 carriages were dispatched via Bulusan Port, Banyuwangi.
With this shipment, all 12 carriages of TS 9 have entered the distribution process to Madiun. Upon arrival in Madiun, TS 9 will proceed to the inspection and testing stages in accordance with the established processes.
“The first four carriages used a combination of land and rail routes via Probolinggo, while the next eight carriages were sent via Bulusan Port. This scheme was prepared to ensure that distribution remains effective while adhering to government regulations regarding Over Dimension and Over Load (ODOL) vehicles,” he said.
According to Nanang, the sea route is being used as an alternative because the products being shipped have specific dimensions and handling requirements.
“The products we are shipping have specific dimensions and handling needs. Therefore, we have adjusted the distribution pattern to align with infrastructure readiness and applicable regulations. The sea route is one of the alternatives that we continue to optimise,” he explained.
