Latest Update! ASDP Adds One Ship to Clear Horrific Gilimanuk Traffic Jam
Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry (Persero) has deployed the support vessel KMP Prima Nusantara, owned by PT Jembatan Nusantara (JN), to the Ketapang-Gilimanuk route following the buildup of queues by holiday travellers ahead of Nyepi and Eid. The vessel is now actively operating to increase transport capacity while accelerating the vehicle loading and unloading process. This step forms part of a strategy to speed up services and gradually reduce wait times for users. Deputy Director of PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry (Persero), Yossianis Marciano, emphasised that all resources are currently focused on accelerating service stabilisation on the ground. βThe deployment of KMP Prima Nusantara is a concrete step to enhance service capacity on the busiest route. We are also continuing to optimise vessel operations to make the crossing process faster and reduce queues,β Yossianis stated in a written release on Wednesday (18/3/2026). Based on data from the Gilimanuk Post for 24 hours (17 March 2026, 00.00-23.59 WIB) or H-4, a total of 25,105 vehicles crossed from Bali to Java. This figure represents a 1.6% increase compared to the same period last year, which was 24,716 units. A significant rise occurred in two-wheeled vehicles, reaching 16,909 units or up 7.2%. The total vessel trips reached 243, with 74,263 passengers. Four-wheeled vehicles were recorded at 6,016 units, trucks at 1,586 units, and buses at 594 units. Cumulatively from H-10 to H-4, the total passengers reached 383,398 people or up 0.3%, while total vehicles reached 122,892 units or an increase of 2.6% compared to last year. Based on field monitoring on Wednesday (18/3/2026) at 10.00 WITA, vehicle queues were observed in Melaya Village, approximately 11 kilometres from the port. With the increased service capacity and more structured traffic management, the queue conditions are beginning to show an improvement trend.
