The condition following the fire that struck the Stasiun Pengisian Bulk Elpiji (SPBE) in Cimuning, Mustika Jaya District, Bekasi City, West Java, on Thursday (2/4/2026). The fire at the SPBE, which occurred on Wednesday (1/4) night, caused dozens of nearby residents’ homes to catch fire with significant damage. On-site observations revealed several vehicles inside the SPBE area completely charred. Due to the explosion and fire, the Cimuning SPBE suffered severe damage and was declared nearly totally destroyed. Additionally, the atmosphere near the site was filled with a pungent smell believed to come from the burnt debris. “The explosion happened around 9 PM, we immediately ran out of the house,” said one resident victim to CNBC Indonesia. The fire spread very quickly. Gas smoke spread for about 15 to 20 minutes before a large explosion occurred. As a result of the incident, several residents near the location panicked and tried to save themselves. For information, the explosion that triggered the fire is suspected to have started from a gas leak at the scene. The fire that ignited the blaze came from an electrical short circuit near the SPBE, causing an explosion and incinerating the area. Regarding this incident, Pertamina itself has ensured that LPG supplies to the public are safe and unaffected. “Pertamina Patra Niaga RJBB ensures that LPG supplies to the public are not disrupted,” stated Susanto August Satria, Area Manager for Communications, Relations & CSR at PT Pertamina Patra Niaga Regional West Java.
