The pedestrian bridge (JPO) on Jalan Kapten Tendean, South Jakarta, which was hit by a truck transporting heavy equipment, is being demolished. The bridge nearly collapsed after the collision.

Monitoring at the location on Tuesday (14/7/2026) at 15.00 WIB, the connecting section of the two sides of the bridge has been lowered onto the road by heavy equipment. Two pieces of heavy equipment were seen assisting in lowering the bridge onto the road from each side.

The bridge section was then cut into several parts. Officers were seen carrying out the cutting using grinders and welding torches.

The roads on both sides around the JPO are also impassable, and traffic flow has been diverted. Only operational demolition vehicles were visible at the location.

Additionally, the truck that struck the JPO was still at the scene. The truck was placed several metres before the JPO demolition site.

It is known that the JPO on Jalan Kapten Tendean, South Jakarta, nearly collapsed after being hit by a heavy equipment transport truck that failed to pass through. The JPO is now unusable.

The Jakarta Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) reported that the incident occurred early this morning at 00.30 WIB. The accident happened because the truck driver was not careful.

β€œThe driver of the heavy equipment towing vehicle did not account for the maximum height of the load,” wrote BPBD Jakarta on Tuesday (14/7).
