Latest! Mount Anak Krakatau Erupts Again This Morning
The Geological Agency of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) recorded an eruption of Mount Anak Krakatau, Lampung, on 10 September 2026, at 09:10 WIB.
The Geological Agency stated that no ash column height was observed, though the eruption was recorded on the seismogram with a maximum amplitude of 47 mm and a duration of approximately 17 seconds.
“Currently, Mount Anak Krakatau is at Alert Level III (Siaga). The public, visitors, tourists, and hikers are advised not to approach Mount Anak Krakatau or engage in activities within a 3 km radius of the active crater,” the Geological Agency explained in its announcement on Thursday (10/9/2026).
Recommendations:
Residents near Mount Anak Krakatau, as well as visitors, tourists, and hikers, are prohibited from entering or conducting activities within a 3 km radius of the centre of Mount Anak Krakatau’s activity. Increased vigilance is required against the threats of hot clouds, lava, incandescent rock fragments, and heavy ashfall.
Those affected by volcanic ash from the eruption are advised to reduce outdoor activities or wear masks while outdoors to avoid respiratory issues.
Residents in the coastal areas of Banten and Lampung provinces are urged to remain calm and not to believe rumours regarding an eruption causing a tsunami. Normal activities may continue, provided that local BPBD (Regional Disaster Management Agency) instructions are strictly followed.
