Latest Developments on Anak Krakatau Eruption, 10 September 2026

Following the continuous eruption of Anak Krakatau, which lasted approximately 25 hours and ended on 6 September 2026 at 00:04 WIB, activity has been observed to return to a Strombolian eruption pattern.

The Geological Agency of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources stated that as of 10 September 2026, 13 Strombolian eruptions have been recorded.

“Monitoring data shows that volcanic activity is still ongoing. The dynamics of Anak Krakatau’s activity are being continuously monitored and evaluated,” stated the official Instagram account of @badan.geologi on Thursday (10/9/2026).

“Currently, Anak Krakatau remains at Level III (Alert). The public and tourists are advised not to engage in any activities within a 3 km radius of the centre of activity and to always follow official information from the Geological Agency,” the agency added.

According to Geological Agency data, between 9-10 September 2026, there was 1 eruption earthquake, 6 inflation earthquakes, 3 low-frequency earthquakes, 5 hybrid/multi-phase earthquakes, 1 shallow volcanic earthquake, 3 distant tectonic earthquakes, and continuous tremors recorded.

“Volcanic seismicity data up to 10 September 2026 shows a tendency towards decreasing activity,” the Geological Agency announcement concluded.
