Latest Developments in the Arab War: Heavy Strike Hits Tehran
Jakarta – CNBC Indonesia - Heavy strikes were reported in Tehran on Friday, 6 March 2026, after Israel said it had attacked the ‘regime’s infrastructure’ in a ‘new phase’ of the war launched with the United States against Iran.
The conflict has entered its seventh day. The fighting has also affected Gulf states with US bases, such as Qatar, which has intercepted drones, and Lebanon, where Iran’s proxy Hizbullah has attacked Israel.
US President Donald Trump has unexpectedly called for involvement in the appointment of Iran’s next leader. Earlier, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was killed in the US-Israel attack on 28 February.
Quoting AFP, the Israeli military chief had previously warned that the US-Israel campaign was moving into a ‘next phase’. It was said that the strikes would ‘further unravel the regime and its military capabilities’.
‘The added’ ‘We have an additional surprise ahead that I will not disclose,’ said Lieutenant General Eyal Zamir in a televised statement.
The same was said by US Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth. He announced that ‘the firepower above Iran and above Tehran will increase dramatically’.
Meanwhile, Iran’s Revolutionary Guards say they have fired missiles towards Tel Aviv after an earlier wave of blasts that caused a fire in a residential building in that central Israeli city. AFP reporters heard two waves of explosions almost simultaneous in Tel Aviv on Thursday night, while rocket trails lit the sky over Netanya, further north.
