Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - Cooking oil prices remain high as of Monday (27/4/2026), a situation that requires attention from local governments to prevent the public from being further burdened by the price increases.

Deputy for Distribution and Services Statistics at the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), Ateng Hartono, stated that the rise in cooking oil prices has led to a broader increase in the Price Development Index (IPH) for this commodity, with 224 districts/cities recording an IPH increase for cooking oil in the fourth week of April 2026. This figure is up from 207 districts/cities in the third week of April 2026.

He further noted that the IPH increase for cooking oil in 224 districts/cities warrants special attention, as prices have yet to decline as of today.

“The number of districts/cities experiencing an IPH increase for cooking oil continues to grow. In the third week of April, there were only 207 districts/cities, but now it has reached 224 districts/cities with IPH increases in the fourth week of April 2026,” said Ateng during the inflation coordination meeting of the Ministry of Home Affairs on Monday (27/4/2026).

The highest cooking oil prices were recorded in Intan Jaya Regency at Rp60,000 per litre, followed by Pegunungan Bintang Regency at Rp50,000 per litre, and Puncak Jaya Regency at Rp42,000 per litre.

“Cooking oil needs attention because the IPH increase is quite widespread,” Ateng explained.
