Latest Condition of KontraS's Andrie Yunus After Becoming Victim of Acid Attack
Jakarta – KontraS Impunity Monitoring Division Head Jane Rosalina has provided an update on the condition of KontraS Deputy Coordinator Andrie Yunus. According to her, Andrie is improving and is undergoing further treatment in the High Care Unit (HCU) at Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital (RSCM) in Jakarta.
“We are fortunate that Andrie’s condition has improved and he has been handled very well by the doctors and hospital staff,” Jane said during a press conference in Jakarta on Wednesday, 18 March 2026.
In an official release from RSCM in Jakarta on Monday (16/3), it was stated that upon initial assessment in the Emergency Installation (IGD), Andrie was diagnosed with burns covering around 24% of his body due to inflammatory reaction from the caustic liquid on his skin.
However, the responsible doctor later revised the burn extent to approximately 20% of the body area, along with grade 3 (acute phase) chemical trauma to the right eye.
She explained that this condition also led to decreased vision and corneal damage at the time of the incident. But after Andrie underwent cleaning of damaged tissue in the right eye and amniotic membrane transplantation (TMA) to protect the eye surface and support healing, Jane said her colleague’s condition is getting better.
Additionally, on Tuesday (17/3), she noted that Andrie also underwent further medical procedures to remove dead skin tissue and early interventions across all burn areas, with priority on the face, including skin grafting.
Meanwhile, for the neck, chest, and right arm areas, she continued, there are still quite deep wounds that cannot yet undergo skin grafting, so the surgery may need to be performed more than once.
“For that, we ask for prayers and solidarity from all friends for the recovery and rehabilitation of our colleague. Further updates and official statements will certainly be provided through RSCM’s public relations via official press releases,” she said.
