Latest Condition of Hotel Sultan After Execution and State Takeover
The execution of the eviction of Hotel Sultan in Jakarta took place on Thursday (18/6/2026) and was marked by a commotion. Today, after being taken over by the state, the atmosphere at Hotel Sultan appeared more deserted. Several gates providing access to the building have been padlocked.
Based on monitoring by CNBC Indonesia on Friday (19/6/2026), a police team erected a brown tent directly in front of Hotel Sultan. There were several banners and signboards at various points explaining that the land and building of Hotel Sultan are now owned by the State.
Furthermore, the road leading to the Hotel Sultan lobby remained open and many police officers were seen guarding the area. A number of TNI personnel were also observed setting up tents in the East Senayan Parking area to secure the Hotel Sultan building during the eviction execution process.
In addition, officers from the Gelora Bung Karno Complex Management Centre (PPKGBK) were seen cleaning up loose rubbish left over from yesterday’s commotion in the Hotel Sultan area. One of the PPKGBK cleaning staff admitted to receiving instructions to clear all plastic waste and other debris scattered outside Hotel Sultan.
“We were just told to clean up the loose rubbish like these plastic bottles left over from yesterday,” he told CNBC Indonesia on Friday (19/6/2026).
Several other workers were also seen packing rubbish into trash bags and transporting it in turns. Meanwhile, the PPKGBK team began entering Hotel Sultan but has not yet provided further information.
