Latest Condition of Andrie Yunus from Kontras: At Risk of Permanent Eye Disability Due to Acid Leakage

The health condition of Kontras activist Andrie Yunus is increasingly concerning after the medical team at RSCM reportedly delayed identifying acid leakage in his eye. Due to this delay in treatment, the victim now faces the most severe risk of permanent disability that could completely impair his vision. The Chair of the Board of the Commission for Missing Persons and Victims of Violence (Kontras), Indria Fernida, revealed that the Kontras Deputy Coordinator is still undergoing intensive care in hospital. Andrie has been receiving treatment for two weeks after becoming a victim of an acid splashing by members of the Indonesian National Armed Forces’ Strategic Intelligence Agency (BAIS). “I want to convey that Andrie’s condition has been in high care unit for more than two weeks, with intensive attached care for his eye and burns,” said Indria at the Senayan Parliamentary Complex, Jakarta, on Tuesday (31/3/2026). Indria stated that he cannot be visited by anyone except family and Kontras representatives. This is done to avoid infection and other unwanted issues. “But this also shows that his condition is not good at all, even though from the outside there is no more, clearer information. And we still see that this situation is a concern of the state,” she said. Indria revealed that the Witness and Victim Protection Agency (LPSK) has specifically accompanied him from the beginning. LPSK also ensures treatment costs and support for Andrie and his family. Meanwhile, Kontras Coordinator Dimas Bagus Arya stated that the hospital side found acid leakage in his eye that was delayed in identification by the RSCM medical team yesterday. “The development from the hospital, his eye part has acid leakage that was delayed in identification by the RSCM medical team yesterday. The effect could be, the most fatal is permanent disability, he cannot see completely,” he said. “Here I want to emphasise that there is an effort to destroy the young generation. Andrie is currently 27 years old, turning 28 on 16 June, and I think this is barbaric, something that cannot be justified, attacking young people who are an asset of this republic,” he said.
