Istanbul (ANTARA) - International activists have launched a new humanitarian mission for the Palestinian people, with a flotilla sailing to the Gaza Strip scheduled for next April, according to the mission organisers.

“The Freedom and Resilience Flotilla will set sail from Barcelona on April 12th,” said the organisers of the humanitarian mission.

The latest flotilla mission is expected to involve 100 ships with activists from 150 countries. The flotilla is scheduled to stop in Italy, Tunisia, and several other ports in the Mediterranean before arriving in Gaza.

The “Freedom and Resilience Flotilla” follows a previous humanitarian aid flotilla mission in October 2025 that was intercepted by Zionist Israeli forces.

The activists who were arrested at that time were subsequently deported.

The Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs called Israel’s move “an act of piracy” and affirmed that the attack on peaceful activists was a serious violation of international law.

At a press conference in Istanbul on Wednesday, Turkish activist spokesperson Dilek Tekocak stated that the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip remains very dire despite the ceasefire, with 477 Palestinians in the region killed during that period.

“This mission is not only a humanitarian aid campaign carried out after existing international mechanisms have proven to be ineffective. This mission is also a peaceful civil resistance against the illegal blockade on a global scale,” said Tekocak.

Meanwhile, health authorities in the Gaza Strip estimate that more than 72,000 people have died in the region since October 2023, with the estimated number of injured in the same period exceeding 171,000.
