Late Vice President Try Sutrisno Buried at Kalibata Heroes Cemetery This Afternoon

JAKARTA — Late Vice President Try Sutrisno, Indonesia’s sixth Vice President, was buried at Taman Makam Pahlawan (Kalibata Heroes Cemetery) in South Jakarta this afternoon with full military ceremony.

Following observations by Republika, the deceased was transported from the family home at approximately 11:00 a.m. and was prayed over at Sunda Kelapa Mosque before being laid to rest at the cemetery.

The gravesite of Retired General Try Sutrisno is located near the burial site of Kristiani Herrawati Yudhoyono, the former First Lady, and is also adjacent to the graves of Pramono Edhie Wibowo, Bacharuddin Jusuf Habibie, and Hasri Ainun Besari.

As of 12:23 p.m., funeral preparations were still underway, with tents being erected in the surrounding area to accommodate mourners attending the ceremony.

Try Sutrisno passed away at the Armed Forces Central Hospital (RSPAD) Gatot Soebroto in Jakarta on Monday morning, 2 March, a fact confirmed by RSPAD Commander Major General Ichsan Firdaus. The time of death was recorded as 6:58 a.m.

News of the retired General’s passing had earlier circulated via chain messages distributed on behalf of the family and the Pancasila Ideology Development Agency (BPIP), and was corroborated by several officials from the State Secretariat Ministry and the Presidential Security Force (Paspampres).

According to the announcement, the body was washed at RSPAD before being transferred to the family residence on Purwakarta Street Number 6, Menteng, Central Jakarta.

A statement from the family read: “We humbly ask forgiveness for any shortcomings and errors the late Vice President may have committed during his lifetime. We pray that his deeds and worship are accepted before Allah Almighty. We respectfully ask for your prayers that the late Vice President finds the best place before Him. Amen, Amen, Amen.”
