Jakarta (ANTARA) – An image of the late Jonghyun, a member of the boy band SHINee, has been posted on Karrot, a South Korean online second-hand marketplace, priced at 1.2 million won, around Rp13.9 million at current rates.

In a Korea JoongAng Daily report on Friday (22 May), the seller explained that the image is a portrait of Defconn, one of the hosts of MBC’s ‘Weekly Idol’ (2011–2025), drawn by Jonghyun in 2015 when he was hosting the programme.

The seller added that the image was obtained as a prize from a programme organised by the broadcaster on which the show was aired. Jonghyun also signed the image.

Jonghyun, whose real name is Kim Jong-hyun, was born on 8 April 1990.

He debuted as a member of the male idol group SHINee in 2008. According to an investigation conducted by local authorities, the musician died by suicide in December 2017.

SM Entertainment, the agency representing Jonghyun at the time and SHINee’s current agency, continues to describe the group as a five-member unit on its official site, even after his death.
