Late-Night Return Home: Man Finds Crying Baby in Jimbaran Bushes

A baby girl was found in bushes on Jalan Goa Betel, Jimbaran, South Kuta, Badung, on Friday (22 May 2026) at around 11:43 p.m. WITA. The baby was first found by Matias Lau Kolly as he was returning home from work and passed along Jalan Goa Betel. While riding, he had to stop briefly when a cat crossed in front of his motorcycle. It was at that moment he heard a baby’s cry. “While the witness was returning home from work and passing Jalan Goa Gong, suddenly a cat crossed in front of the witness’s motorcycle, causing the witness to stop; at that moment he heard the sound of a baby’s cry,” said Denpasar Police Public Relations Head Inspector I Gede Adi Saputra Jaya, Saturday (23 May 2026). Not wanting to check alone, the 25-year-old man rushed home and asked his brother, Samuel, to return to the scene. When they checked the bushes, they found a crying baby girl. The baby was wrapped in a red cloth and packed in a blue tote bag. Samuel then picked up the baby and asked a nearby boarding house owner to help carry the baby. The boarding house owner then contacted the local community chief. The baby was reported to be in healthy condition, weighing 2,900 grams and measuring 48 cm in length. For further medical examination, the baby has been taken to RS Udayana. “Regarding the incident, the baby is healthy, female, weighing 2,900 grams and 48 cm long,” said Adi. (hsa/hsa)
