Late Evening Passenger Congestion at Duri Station Following KRL Disruption
Passenger congestion at Duri Station bound for Tangerang persisted Tuesday (26 May 2026) evening following a KRL disruption near Rawa Buaya Station. Ikhsan, a 32-year-old passenger heading to Batu Ceper Station, said he had been stranded for 1.5 hours at Duri Station. He was seen sitting against a wall while playing his phone in the station hall. “I’ve been here since around 9 PM after transferring from Manggarai; the train hasn’t moved. I’m exhausted, so I might as well sit and wait until it’s less crowded,” Ikhsan told Kompas.com at the scene Tuesday evening. The Tangerang-bound KRLs arriving were mostly eight-carriage trains, which exacerbated the congestion due to limited passenger capacity. “The platform has been packed since earlier; not everyone can board at once, so I went upstairs again. The intervals between trains are extremely long,” he added. Ikhsan had planned to attend takbiran prayers at a mosque near his home but was delayed by over two hours. He decided to abandon his plans due to fatigue. “I think I’ll just go to sleep now so I can pray Eid tomorrow morning. I have no energy left; maybe I’ll start moving in 30 minutes,” he said. Similarly, Yuni, 33, reported waiting for two hours since 9:30 PM for a KRL. “I was coming from my in-laws’ house in Tanah Abang, heading to Cipondoh (Tangerang). Usually, the longest wait is 30 minutes, but today I couldn’t handle the overcrowding,” Yuni said. The severe passenger build-up forced commuters on the Duri-Tangerang route to jostle to board. Yuni, who was travelling with her four-year-old child, refused to squeeze into the crowded train.
