Late Arifin C. Noor among nominees for TV awards

JAKARTA (JP): The late Arifin C. Noor is among the nominees
for awards to be presented at the second Indonesian Sinetron
Festival on Dec. 7.

The announcement, aired live on Saturday by the state-owned
TVRI and the five private TV stations -- RCTI, SCTV, TPI, ANTeve
and Indosiar -- confirmed speculation about who the nominees
would be.

Sinetron is the Indonesian name for television drama.

Arifin was nominated for Best Director for his sinetron Keris
(Kris), his last work prior to his death in May.

Other nominees for Best Director are Enison Sinaro, for
Menghitung Hari (Counting the Days); Imam Tantowi, for Jejak Sang
Guru (The Teacher's Footsteps); Putu Wijaya, for Dukun Palsu
(Fake Medicine Man); and Teguh Karya, for Pakaian dan Kepalsuan
(Apparel and Fallacy).

Nominees for Best Actor are Dedi Sutomo, for his performance
in Dendam (Grudge); Didi Petet for Keris; Purnomo for Jejak Sang
Guru; Sandi Nayoan for Menghitung Hari; and Yono Daryono for
Jejak Sang Guru.

The Best Actress nomination went to Anita Carolina for Inang
Partihan; Clara Shinta for Pakaian dan Kepalsuan; Cut Keke for
Nyai Dasima; Pertiwi Hasan for Jejak Sang Guru; and Yatie
Surachman for Dukun Palsu.

The Best Supporting Actor nomination went to Charlie Sahetapi
for Nyai Dasima; El Manik for Pakaian dan Kepalsuan; Fuad Idris
for Menghitung Hari; Yoyok Aryo for Topeng Sang Kekasih (A
Lover's Mask); and Zainal Abidin for Pakaian dan Kepalsuan.

Nominees for Best Supporting Actress are Alin Sahertian, for
Nyai Dasima; Niniek L. Karim, for Indonesia Berbisik (Indonesia
Whispers); Ninok Wiryono for Keris; Ully Arta for Pakaian dan
Kepalsuan; and Yuningsih for Topeng Sang Kekasih.

The nominees for single-episode sinetron are Jejak Sang Guru,
Pakaian dan Kepalsuan, Senyum yang terampas (The Wrenched Smile),
all directed by Arya Kusumadewa; and Topeng Sang Kekasih,
directed by Supranyata.

Best Comedy sinetron nominees are Dukun Palsu (Putu Wijaya),
Flamboyan 108 (Deby Sahertian), Gara-Gara (Hadi Purnomo) and
Pepesan Kosong (Ali Sahab).

The Best Cinematography nomination went to Edi Surjono for
Senyum Yang Terampas, Nur Hidayat (Indonesia Berbisik), Sri Atmo
(Biola Bangsaku -- My People's Violin) and Wiralda (Keris).

For non-fiction sinetron there are three categories: drama,
education, and cultural and tourist information.

About 600 sinetron were entered in the festival and the
selection committee has chosen 41 works consisting of 10 one-
episode sinetron, 16 serials, and 15 comedy serials. The jurors,
led by Amoroso Katamsi, consist of Idris Sardi, Jajang Pamuncak,
El Manik, Marwah Daud, Sophan Sophiaan, and George Kamarulah.

The selection committee's announcement of the winners on Dec.
7 from the 21 Concert Hall will be aired live by the six TV
