Late Alex Noerdin's Body Laid to Rest in Official Ceremony by the South Sumatra Provincial Government

Palembang (ANTARA) - The Governor of South Sumatra (Sumsel), Herman Deru, served as the inspecting officer during the ceremony to honour the body of the late former Governor of Sumsel, Alex Noerdin, which was held by the local government at the family home on Jalan Merdeka, Palembang, on Thursday.

The ceremony was attended by all members of the Regional Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkompinda) of Sumsel and the heads of government agencies within the South Sumatra Provincial Government.

The late Alex Noerdin’s eldest son, Dody Reza Alex, expressed his gratitude to the local government for its attention in holding the official ceremony.

‘On behalf of the family, we would like to express our extraordinary gratitude for the extraordinary reception. If there is anything that has been unsatisfactory, if there have been any shortcomings on the part of the deceased, I, as the eldest son, apologise. We entrust the deceased to be laid to rest in an official ceremony,’ he said.

Herman Deru said that both personally and as the Governor of South Sumatra, he expressed his condolences to the extended family of the late Alex Noerdin.

‘I hope that the family left behind will be given strength and sincerity. Let us pray that the deceased will be given a smooth path and that his good deeds will be accepted by Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala,’ said Governor Herman Deru.

After the ceremony, the body was taken to the Grand Mosque of Palembang to be given the Janazah prayer and then buried in the Kebun Bunga Public Cemetery, Palembang.
