Last Prayer of Private Farizal in Lebanon Until He Fell Victim to Mortar Blast
Private Farizal Rhomadhon from Kulon Progo fell while carrying out the United Nations peacekeeping mission (UNIFIL) in Lebanon. The member of the 25th Infantry Brigade/Siwah is said to have been killed by a mortar explosion while performing the Isha prayer at a mosque near the UNIFIL post.
“So during prayer, it wasn’t the dawn prayer but during the Isha prayer,” said the Commander of the 25th Infantry Brigade/Siwah, Colonel Inf Dimar Bahtera, while paying respects at the home of the deceased Private Farizal in Padukuhan Ledok, Lendah, Kulon Progo, on Tuesday (31/3/2026).
According to Dimar, the mortar fell right next to the place of worship.
“So during the Isha prayer, the individual was performing the prayer, and there was a mortar, artillery, that fell next to the mosque,” he said.
To Be Autopsied in Beirut
Dimar explained that the process of repatriating Private Farizal’s body from Lebanon is still awaiting official stages from the United Nations (UN). His side could not yet confirm when the body would arrive in the homeland.
According to him, Farizal’s body has been evacuated to the headquarters to be laid in state and receive honours from his teammates.
“It’s no longer at the scene but evacuated to the headquarters. At the headquarters, it’s already in the process of preparing the body and everything else by the teammates in the same area,” he explained.
The body is planned to be taken to Beirut for an autopsy before entering the repatriation stage by the UN through UNIFIL.
“Then it will be carried out for autopsy there. After that, the repatriation mechanism process will be carried out by the UN itself, by UNIFIL itself. There are several stages that are done,” he explained.
Honour Ceremony in Jakarta
Dimar explained that Farizal’s body will not be flown directly from Lebanon. This is because civilian flight routes from Lebanon are closed.
“The flight might be from where, perhaps through Egypt or Jordan, because the situation in Lebanon itself for civilian flights is closed,” he said.
“Thus, it must involve airports in surrounding countries and is already being handled directly by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Defence Attaché,” he added.
Upon arrival in Indonesia, there will be an honour ceremony in Jakarta before continuing the journey to Kulon Progo.
“Here. The burial will be here according to the family’s request. The honour from the state includes a military funeral honour ceremony,” he concluded.
Scheduled to Return in May
Cited from detikNews, Private Farizal fell on Sunday (29/3/2026) at the UNIFIL headquarters located near Adchit Al Qusayr in southern Lebanon. This attack occurred amid increasing escalation of armed contacts between the Israeli military (IDF) and the Hezbollah group.
Private Farizal Rhomadhon served as Taban Provost 1 Ru Provost Kompi Markas (Kima) Yonif 113/JS. His passing leaves behind a wife and a two-year-old child.
Supinah, the mother of Private Farizal, revealed that her son’s tour of duty in Lebanon was actually about to end soon. According to Supinah, her son was deployed to Lebanon since April 2025. His son’s tour was actually ending in April. He was scheduled to return to Indonesia in May 2026.
“End of April this time finished, May return. There’s already a flight schedule, I was also sent it,” said Supinah when met by reporters at the mourning home in Kulon Progo, Tuesday (31/3/2026).
“He left in April last year. After a year, right after Eid,” she continued.
Often Entering Bunkers for Hours
Supinah recalled that during his service, including in Lebanon, the late routinely communicated with the family almost every day.
“Yes, every day, if night here, day there, every day video call, with me, with his father, then connected to the grandchild in Aceh,” she said.
She also revealed that in recent times, the situation at the duty location had become increasingly emergency. The late often had to enter the bunker when the siren sounded.
“Lately it’s a bit emergency, every time entering the bunker for hours, then if safe, come out. He said if there’s a siren, must enter, that every time,” she said.
Aspired to Be in the TNI Since High School
Supinah said her youngest child was known from a young age as a good and open person to his parents.
“Yes, he was good, everything he told. Even when in Papua, in Lebanon, everything he told me, to his father, every time WA,” she said.
Farizal was the second of two siblings. Since high school, he had aspired to become a soldier.
Supinah said it was inspired by his uncle. So in 2016 after graduating, Farizal enlisted in the TNI in Yogyakarta and was then placed in Aceh.
“Since high school, that’s what he liked, his aspiration. I told him to go to university, he didn’t want, he said he wanted to be in the military, yes, his uncle in Cirebon is on duty, he said he wanted to be like uncle,” she said.
