Largest Investment in Application Development within the Creative Economy
The application sub-sector plays a vital role in the national economy. In 2025, this sub-sector became the largest contributor to investment, valued at Rp54.18 trillion out of a total creative economy investment of Rp183.01 trillion, with export values reaching US$31.94 billion.
This was stated by the Minister of Creative Economy/Creative Economy Agency (Ekraf), Teuku Riefky Harsya, at the Indonesia Apps Summit (IN-Apps) 2026, as part of the World Conference on Creative Economy (WCCE) 2026 series. This forum is designed to be a strategic collaboration space for stakeholders to strengthen the application ecosystem and accelerate the growth of the digital creative economy in the country.
At the peak of the event held at ICE BSD, Tangerang, on Monday (14/9), the Ministry of Creative Economy presented awards to 13 application activists and companies for their tangible contributions to developing digital innovation. Teuku Riefky emphasised that these awards are a form of recognition for innovators who have provided digital solutions for the community.
“These awards are a form of respect for innovators who have presented digital solutions that provide real benefits to society while inspiring the birth of subsequent innovations. Our success will be measured by the increasing number of Indonesian applications capable of growing, competing, and demonstrating their presence on a global level,” said Teuku Riefky.
In addition to the awards, the Ministry of Creative Economy and Sinar Mas Land signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) regarding support for the development of the creative economy in the Banten International Special Economic Zone (SEZ) for Education, Technology, and Health. This step is expected to strengthen the synergy between physical infrastructure and the digital ecosystem.
