Large Tree in South Jakarta Falls, Crushing a Motorcyclist and Killing Him

A large tree in Lenteng Agung, Jagakarsa, South Jakarta fell, crushing a motorcyclist. The tree toppled after heavy rain drenched the area and was accompanied by strong winds.

“The heavy rain, coupled with strong winds, caused the tree to fall and strike the motorcyclist,” said Isnawa Adji, the Head of the Jakarta Provincial Disaster Management Agency (BPBD DKI Jakarta), in a statement on Sunday, 8 March 2026.

The incident was reported at 02:31 local time this morning. Responders rushed to the scene to evacuate. Sadly, the motorcyclist died after being crushed by the fallen tree.

“The victim was evacuated in a deceased condition and has been transported to Brimob Hospital in Kelapa Dua,” he said.

Currently, officers are still carrying out the evacuation of the fallen tree to prevent blocking access for motorists.

“The cause is heavy rain accompanied by strong winds. The tree obstructing the road is being handled by the relevant department,” he added.
