Laptop theft in South Tangerang: suspect arrested after posing as a parcel courier

The suspect is believed to have exploited the victim’s unoccupied home by posing as a package delivery courier, according to Pamulang Police Chief AKP Galuh Febri Saputra in a statement on Thursday (21 May 2026). The theft occurred on Saturday 25 April at 16:40 WIB in Pamulang, South Tangerang. Initially, the victim left the house with the door locked. Before leaving, the victim stored a laptop in the living room. The victim received a phone call from a courier claiming to be delivering a package to the victim’s house. ‘Because the victim was not at the location, the package was left on the garage table. When the victim returned home, the door was found damaged and open,’ he said. After inspection, the victim discovered that the laptop that had been in the living room had disappeared. The victim subsequently reported the incident to Pamulang Police Station for further investigation. The Pamulang Police Criminal Investigation Unit managed to identify and secure the offender along with the crime evidence. For his actions, the offender is charged under Article 477 of Law Number 1 of 2023 on the Penal Code’s criminal act of theft. The Pamulang Police will continue to intensify law enforcement against all forms of crime that disturb public safety, particularly theft in the jurisdiction of the Pamulang Police. ‘Any form of crime that disturbs the public’s sense of security will be dealt with professionally, quickly and firmly in accordance with applicable law. There is no room for criminals in the jurisdiction of the Pamulang Police,’ he said.
