Langkat Regent Syah Afandin Detained by KPK for Alleged Bribery

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has detained Langkat Regent Syah Afandin after naming him a suspect in a bribery case involving projects within the Langkat Regency administration for the 2025–2026 period. Syah Afandin is suspected of receiving Rp1.2 billion in bribes related to projects at the Langkat Education Department, as well as gratuities totalling Rp3.5 billion. During the investigation, KPK seized evidence including cash and foreign currency worth approximately Rp1.22 billion, along with dozens of platinum bars.
