Langkat Regent Syah Afandin Arrested by KPK
The Corruption Eradability Commission (KPK) has once again conducted a covert operation. The anti-corruption agency confirmed that it has carried out a sting operation (OTT), resulting in the arrest of the Regent of Langkat, Syah Afandin.
“It is true,” stated KPK Vice Chairman Fitroh Rohcahyanto briefly on Friday (3/7).
In accordance with the provisions of the Criminal Procedure Code (KUHAP), the KPK now has 24 hours to conduct intensive examinations to determine the legal status of the individuals caught in the covert operation.
This enforcement action further extends the list of regional heads entangled in corruption this year. Prior to launching the operation in Langkat Regency, the KPK recently conducted a similar operation in Kuantan Singingi (Kuansing) Regency, Riau Province.
In the Kuansing case, KPK investigators have named three individuals as suspects related to an alleged bribery case involving official positions. The suspects include the Regent of Kuansing, Suhardiman Amby; the Regional Secretary of Kuansing, Zulkarnain; and the Director of PT Mitra Ideal Consultant (MIC), Ardiles.
