Langkat Regent Syah Afandin, also known as Ondim, arrived at the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) headquarters after being caught in a sting operation related to project bribery. Syah was immediately taken into the KPK building. Based on monitoring at the KPK building in Kuningan, South Jakarta, on Friday (3/7/2026), Syah arrived at 14.22 WIB. Syah was brought in a vehicle directly into the KPK building. “The Regent of Langkat, one of those detained in this hand-arrest incident, has arrived at the KPK’s Merah Putih building at around 14.30 WIB,” said KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo to reporters on Friday (3/7/2026). “The individual concerned will subsequently undergo further examination,” he added. The sting operation is related to bribery involving projects under the Langkat Regency Education Office and the Housing and Settlement Area Office. A total of seven people were detained by the KPK in this case. Besides Syah, one of those detained is a civil servant in Langkat and five others are from the private sector. These seven individuals were arrested in different areas, namely Langkat, Binjai, and Medan. Those caught in the sting operation are currently still being questioned. The KPK has 24 hours to determine the status of those caught in the operation.
