The road access in Dusun Pamah Semelir, Telagah Village, Langkat Regency, North Sumatra, recently experienced a landslide. As a result, the alternative road connecting Langkat Regency with Karo Regency is unable to be traversed by vehicles normally.

A portion of the roadbed has collapsed due to the landslide. This condition forces passing vehicles to take turns, as the remaining width of the road is only sufficient for a single vehicle.

The Governor of North Sumatra, Bobby Nasution, has ensured that road repairs will commence in October 2026. Bobby will prepare temporary access to ensure that resident mobility continues.

“Road repairs will begin in October 2026. A temporary access will be built for the residents,” said Bobby on Saturday (12/9).

In addition to disrupting traffic flow, the landslide has also impacted the clean water network used by residents. The clean water distribution pipes located near the site were also severed due to the disaster.

Bobby stated that his office will prepare a temporary clean water supply for the affected communities.

“We will send water to the community,” he said after hearing complaints directly from residents.

Meanwhile, the Acting Regent of Langkat, Tiorita Br Surbakti, stated that her office will first prioritise repairing the broken water pipelines.

“We will repair the broken pipes first, so that the community can receive clean water,” she said.

Ade Sembiring, a resident of Telaga Village, Sungai Bingei District, Langkat Regency, noted that the community has been without clean water for three weeks.

The disruption of road access is also hindering the distribution of goods and community activities between Karo and Langkat.

“Our hope is that our road is repaired immediately so that all community activities can run smoothly. The same applies to the availability of the severed clean water supply,” he said.
