Landslip Disaster in Semarang: Resident's Account of Home Collapse After Strong Winds and Heavy Rain
A landslip phenomenon has recurred in Semarang City, Central Java. The latest incident occurred in Sukorejo Village, Gunungpati District, specifically around Delik Sari Road.
The ground movement has caused damage to Delik Sari Road, which residents have since filled in. Two houses have collapsed as a result of the disaster, with one located at the end of the road in RT03/RW06.
The homeowner, Mujihadatun Istiqomah (32 years old), stated that her house collapsed due to landslip on 18 February 2026 at approximately 10:30 am. She reported that her residential area experienced heavy rain accompanied by strong winds that day.
“The wind was extremely strong first. After that came the rain and wind. Suddenly the ground moved, and then the house sank,” Mujihadatun said when interviewed on Wednesday (25 February 2026).
Fortunately, Mujihadatun and her children were not at home at the time. She learned of her house’s collapse from neighbours.
Because she was away from home, Mujihadatun was unable to rescue or evacuate her belongings. “The television, furniture, everything is still there. There was no time to save them,” she said.
