A landslide struck Kampung Daleum, Sukamenak Village, Sukarame Subdistrict, Tasikmalaya Regency, West Java, severing the road connecting two subdistricts.

The landslide occurred after the area was hit by heavy rainfall. Agricultural land comprising plantations and rice paddies collapsed onto the road linking Sukarame and Tanjungjaya subdistricts.

“The landslide was caused by high-intensity rainfall. Rice paddies and plantations slid onto the road connecting the two subdistricts,” said Sukarame Police Chief Inspector Mulyadi on Sunday afternoon (22 February 2026).

The collapsed cliff was approximately 30 metres high and 50 metres wide. Access for residents in two villages has been completely cut off.

“The severed road connects two subdistricts — Sukamenak Village in Sukarame Subdistrict and Ciloloha Village in Tanjungjaya Subdistrict,” Inspector Mulyadi said.

Residents have been forced to take a much longer route via Wargakerta Village to maintain connectivity between the two areas. A joint team comprising the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), the Tagana Social Welfare Volunteer Corps (FK Tagana), the Indonesian Military (TNI), and the National Police, assisted by local residents, continues efforts to evacuate the landslide debris.

“There is an alternative route available for residents,” Inspector Mulyadi said.
