Extreme weather battering the West Java region has disrupted mass transportation routes. One such disruption is the Ciremai train service from Semarang Tawang to Bandung, which was forced to halt due to landslide material covering the tracks in the Maswati–Sasaksaat section on Wednesday (1/4). This was confirmed by the Manager of Public Relations for PT KAI’s Daop 2 Bandung, Kuswardojo, when contacted. He explained that the soil landslide occurred around 2:53 PM WIB, covering the crossing at KM 142+8/9 in the West Bandung Regency area. As a result, the train consist could not continue its journey for the safety and security of passengers. He stated that the unpredictable natural conditions at the location were the main trigger for the soil collapse onto the tracks. “We apologise for the inconvenience experienced by Ciremai train customers. Currently, the consist is temporarily stopped because the Maswati-Sasaksaat section cannot yet be traversed,” he said. Daop 2 Bandung immediately dispatched an emergency response team to the incident site. Infrastructure personnel were mobilised to clear the landslide material so that the rail line could be traversed again. Kuswardojo emphasised that evacuation and track handling are the top priorities at this time. His side continues to strive to accelerate the normalisation of the line while still prioritising operational safety aspects. “All personnel in the field are working hard to handle the landslide point. We will continue to provide the latest information to passengers regarding developments at the site,” he said. PT KAI asks passengers to remain calm and follow instructions from officers both on the train and at the station.
