Landslide Hits Upper Cisokan Hydroelectric Project Area, Materials Slide from Hilltop

A landslide occurred on Friday (1/5) when the area was hit by heavy rain. The landslide materials surged from the top of the hill to the lower part of the water tunnel.

Rongga Subdistrict Head, Badrul Muin, stated that the landslide happened after several hours of heavy rain. The landslide materials slid from the hill in Cimarel Village, Sukaresmi Village, Rongga Subdistrict.

“The landslide point is from Bukit Pasir Datar, based on information from the Upper Cisokan PLTA side, it is above the project tunnel area CTY or TTO (Tailrace Tunnel Outlet),” said Badrul Muin when confirmed on Saturday (2/5/2026).

Separately, Senior Manager of Licensing, Land, and Communication at PLN UIP Central Java Region, Ferdyan Hijrah Kusuma, confirmed that a landslide had occurred in the planned Outlet area of the Upper Cisokan PLTA, suspected due to high rainfall. He assured that there were no fatalities in the incident.

“At this time, we can confirm that during the landslide, there was no work activity at the location and there were no casualties from this disaster,” said Ferdyan in a written statement received by detikJabar.
