The Pusuk Sembalun tourist route in East Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara, was once again hit by a landslide due to heavy rainfall on Wednesday (25/2/2026). Soil and fallen trees blocked the road, disrupting traffic.

“The landslide just happened, when we were passing by, the debris reached the road. This is disrupting drivers,” said a driver, Ahmad Hulaen, on Wednesday.

In addition, a large tree was also uprooted and remains standing. This is a concern as it could fall and endanger passing drivers.

“There is also a tree that has fallen but is still standing, which is dangerous if it suddenly falls,” said Hulaen.

The Head of the Sembalun Sector Police, Iptu Lalu Subadri, confirmed the incident. A joint team from the TNI (National Armed Forces), Polri (National Police), and local communities are working to clear the area.

“Personnel are still at the location to provide security and are currently working to clear the landslide material,” said Subadri.

Subadri said the landslide was caused by heavy rain that had been falling since Wednesday afternoon. Fortunately, there were no casualties in the incident.

“The heavy rain was quite intense. There were no casualties,” he said.

Subadri appealed to drivers who want to visit Sembalun to always be careful, given the unpredictable weather. “Especially when driving in the rain, the roads are slippery and prone to fallen trees and landslides. We urge everyone to be careful,” he said.
