Landslide Debris Cleared, Maswati–Sasaksaat Railway Line in West Bandung Regency Returns to Normal
The rail line in the Maswati–Sasaksaat section, West Bandung Regency, has returned to normal and can be traversed by trains as of early Thursday (2/4). The KAI emergency response team has completed the evacuation of the Ciremai train series and the cleaning of landslide debris that previously covered the tracks.
Kuswardojo, Manager of Public Relations for KAI Daop 2 Bandung, stated that the line was officially reopened at exactly 03:20 WIB. “We have successfully completed the entire process of evacuating the Ciremai train facilities and clearing the tracks of landslide debris. As of Thursday, 2 April 2026, at 03:20 WIB, the Maswati–Sasaksaat line can once again be traversed by trains,” said Kuswardojo in his statement on Thursday (2/4).
Although the line can now be traversed, KAI is still implementing strict safety procedures. The former Parahyangan train series (142) became the first train to pass through the location at a limited speed.
This anticipatory measure was taken to ensure the stability of the rail line after it was buried by soil and rocks. Kuswardojo added that personnel are still on standby at the site to carry out further normalisation stages.
“We are still carrying out the track normalisation stage gradually. Our focus is to ensure that all safety aspects are met, so that in the near future this line can be traversed at normal speeds,” he added.
With the reopening of this line, it is hoped that train schedules in the Daop 2 Bandung region will gradually recover and return to smooth operations. KAI continues to urge prospective passengers to monitor the latest information through the company’s official channels to anticipate any schedule adjustments during the normalisation period.
