Landslide Between Maswati-Sasaksaat Disrupts Railway Line, Several Jakarta-Bandung Trains Cancelled
JAKARTA - A landslide on the railway line between Maswati and Sasaksaat in West Bandung Regency has impacted train services on the Jakarta-Bandung route on Wednesday (1/4/2026). The incident resulted in the cancellation of several train journeys, while others experienced delays. “The impact of the landslide on the railway line in the Bandung Barat area is within the operational area of Daerah Operasi 2 Bandung,” said Manager of Public Relations for KAI Daop 1 Jakarta, Franoto Wibowo, when contacted by Kompas.com on Wednesday. Additionally, one journey from Bandung to Jakarta was cancelled due to the landslide, namely KA Parahyangan number 139 scheduled to depart at 19.25 WIB. Several other train journeys also faced delays, as follows: Passengers on both trains were redirected to alternative modes of transport. Passengers on KA Serayu were transferred to buses heading to Jakarta, while passengers on KA Papandayan were transferred to the Whoosh high-speed train. Furthermore, KAI has opened options for ticket cancellations for affected passengers, either through the app or at station counters. Earlier, the KA Ciremai 174 derailed after the locomotive hit landslide material blocking the track on Wednesday afternoon. The incident occurred on the Maswati-Sasaksaat (MSI-SKT) section, specifically in Kampung Galudra, Mandalasari Village, Cikalongwetan Subdistrict, West Bandung Regency (KBB), West Java, around 14.53 WIB. Moments before the incident, the Cikalongwetan and Cipatat areas experienced heavy rain, causing landslides at several points. “One of them was the landslide on the railway crossing. The material blocked the tracks, and shortly after, the train entered and hit the landslide,” said Chiko. The KA Ciremai that derailed was a train heading from Purwakarta to Bandung. “The landslide point is a few metres from the tunnel. So, it was just a few metres before the train entered the Sasaksaat tunnel,” added Chiko. “There were no fatalities or serious injuries in this incident. Our personnel immediately carried out handling at the site to ensure safety is maintained,” said Anne in an official statement received by Kompas.com.
