Landmark's builder responds protest

PT Panen Subur, the developer of Landmark Tower II, denied
allegations that it has disturbed the neighborhood when
constructing the high rise building on Jl. Jendral Sudirman,
South Jakarta.

"It's a baseless allegation since they live far from our
project," said Maman Sulaeman, one of the company's manager, in a
meeting at the City Council late last week.

Earlier, six families near the project complained that the
company's 24-hour operations have disturbed their life, saying
the developer is in violation of the nuisance act.

They sent letters to the government as well as to a
government-affiliated business association to stop the
development of the tower.

Under Indonesian law permission from neighbors is required
before building a house or a factory which can create loud noises
and bad smells.(09)
