Land fire in Tanjung Saguk, Natuna burns around 30 hectares

The Natuna Regency Fire and Rescue Service (Disdamkarmat) in Riau Islands Province extinguished a fire that had burned around 30 hectares of forest and land in Tanjung Saguk.

Head of Disdamkarmat Natuna, Syawal, confirmed from Natuna on Sunday that his office received a fire report from a resident named Suhardi on Sunday at 11:50 WIB. Despite the considerable scale, the incident resulted in no casualties.

“After receiving the report, personnel immediately deployed one fire engine unit, BP 9000 N, to the location at 11:55 WIB,” he said.

He noted that in addition to using fire engines, personnel also carried out manual firefighting efforts.

In handling the fire, Disdamkarmat Natuna deployed Echo Squad and received support from Indonesian Navy personnel, Army Babinsa officers, the National Police, local government, and surrounding communities.

Syawal mentioned that one of the challenges faced by personnel during the firefighting operation was difficult road access to the location, requiring greater effort in mobilising personnel and equipment.

He urged the public to increase vigilance against potential land fires, especially during hot and dry weather conditions. Residents were asked not to engage in activities that could trigger fires, such as burning land carelessly.

“We invite the community to work together to protect the environment and to report immediately if they see signs of fire so that it can be handled more quickly,” he said.
