Land Execution in East Jakarta's Cibubur Marred by Resident Protests, Ruling Deemed Inconsistent with Facts

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The execution process of four land plots in the Cibubur area, East Jakarta, was marred by protests from residents who rejected it, on Thursday (23/4/2026). Various buildings have been constructed on these four land plots, ranging from residential houses to business premises, such as scrap collection sites. Based on observations by Kompas.com at the location, before the execution took place, the bailiff, accompanied by members of the Metro Jakarta Timur Police Resort, read out the court ruling regarding the land execution. “Ordering the panitera of the Jakarta Timur District Court, or if he is unable, to appoint one competent and capable bailiff to be accompanied by two witnesses, and if necessary with the assistance of the Indonesian National Police or other state power tools to carry out the eviction execution,” said the bailiff of the Jakarta Timur District Court when reading the ruling at the location on Thursday. However, the reading of the ruling was rejected by the residents because it was deemed inconsistent with the facts they believe. Through their legal representative, Hari, the residents conveyed demands regarding the land execution that they considered irregular. “First, I as the legal representative. Statement of rejection of execution, to the bailiff of the Jakarta Timur District Court,” said Hari when reading the demands. Hari assessed that the execution violated procedures according to the Supreme Court. He stated that the Jakarta Timur District Court ignored the konstatering or the process of matching the disputed object. “There is an active legal resistance effort, that currently a resistance case against the Jakarta Timur District Court is underway, which has been scheduled for its first hearing on 7 May 2026,” said Hari. Meanwhile, the panitera of the Jakarta Timur District Court, Rudy Hartono, assured that the execution was in accordance with procedures. “That today’s execution is based on a ruling that has acquired permanent legal force up to the cassation level,” stated Rudy Hartono at the location. He also assured that the viral news regarding an orphanage and mosque affected by the execution was not true. “The orphanage foundation is not executed. As for the mosque, it is handed over to the community through the local government. That information was conveyed by the applicant through his representative in the first and second coordination meetings,” he explained.
